Received an accelerated payment notice?

What are APNs?

Accelerated Payment Notices (APNs), which came into force in July 2014, enable HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to demand payments of disputed tax associated with an avoidance scheme up front and in advance of the conclusion of their tax enquiry or tax appeal. Significant penalties apply to late payments, and investors may be faced with a potential tax bill which could well exceed their initial investment.

In recent months our specialists at BM Advisory have advised a number of individuals and company directors who have either been issued with an APN or are concerned by the prospect of being served with a notice.
